The family was in disbelief how their dog ended up in that shelter, but it didn’t matter anymore. It was clear that their dog Dante had returned home and that the family would never forget the day they found him. Incredible but true: when they decided to adopt a new dog, after having elaborated the pain for Dante’s disappearance, they found him in front of them. Amazement and immense joy: their beloved canine companion was with them again.
The story was told by the Fairfax County Animal Shelter, in Virginia (USA): “Here is a very happy story to end your week on a high note! A nice family came to the shelter looking to adopt a dog. They had been looking around for a while ‘, but they still hadn’t felt a connection. They looked into our adoption shelters but still no one caught their eye. As they were walking away, one of the kids noticed pictures of other available dogs… and suddenly there’s it was a connection, because one of our dogs looked just like their last dog. Turns out…it was their dog!!!”
And again: “Their dog had disappeared in another county some time ago and they looked everywhere, but they didn’t think it would make it that far. The soldier, whose real name is Dante, was absolutely delighted to see his family. Lots of jumping and whimpering and wagging tails, running from person to person as if to confirm that yes they were REAL and were here to bring him HOME!!! It is clear Dante is a much loved member of the family, and we were so happy that everything worked out for the best. Maybe this was the universe not letting them feel a connection with any other dog, because Dante was still waiting for them.”
After confirming ownership of the dog, the family were able to take Dante home with them. He was as if he had never been away. He adapted quickly and was happy to be back in his familiar surroundings. This family’s story demonstrates how pets can become an integral part of everyday life and how adopting an animal can be a rewarding experience for both of you. Dante’s re-adoption was the best gift they could ever expect. A surprise they will never forget. A story with a happy ending that demonstrates how love for our pets knows no bounds.
