The red team has admitted that it has suffered a drop in shipments of video cards and processors over the last period and in fact, the mere fact that some historical partners have not launched Radeon 7900s could have sounded like an alarm bell .
In particular, it was the same Dr. Lisa Su to admit this “negative” trend for the company, explaining that “the first quarter we will hit the bottom in the PC market […] and we will experience growth in the second quarter and then pick up in the second half of the year. In terms of shipping, I think we shipped less than usual in Q3 and also in Q4 – ed. of 2022 – and we will continue to do so, but to a lesser extent, in the first quarter. At that point, we will return to a more regular situation. Just to clarify, the first half is usually weaker anyway“.
This may be the reason for the prices not so much of the processors but certainly of the video cards they have apparently reached a plateau phase at the end of the year, without the conspicuous declines observed for other brands, especially in the new market.
In any case, that of AMD does not sound much like a surprise, since the year 2022 did not end in the best way in terms of demand for much of the tech sector. If nothing else, luckily there was no shortage of news and twists, not least the surprise announcement of the prices of the Ryzen 7000X3D.
