Moscow police arrested Alicia Day, a 34-year-old US citizen, who walked a calf on Red Square. She was tried by express procedure, she was sentenced to 13 days’ imprisonment and a fine of 300 euros.
The woman said she bought the calf on a Russian classifieds site and intended to show the animal “one of the most beautiful places in the country”.
Alicia Day is a vegan and, in addition to the new purchase, she already has 7 piglets and 2 other calves. The woman participates in the campaigns for the rescue of animals from slaughterhouses and, according to the agents who arrested her, she allegedly shouted: “Animals are not food!”, Claiming that it was not a demonstration action, but a a “personal act”.
