Less than a month after Android’s 15th birthday, today comes a Google’s new operating system update which introduces some features highly requested by users, such as sharing digital car keys and a new reading mode.
The update, along with the usual changelog, was announced on android blogand it can be installed on both smartphones and smartwatches compatible. The most important novelty is certainly the new one reading mode of Android, which promises to provide more accessible screen reading across the entire operating system, not just a few individual apps.
Reading mode can be obtained by installing a dedicated app from the Play Store from Google: the application allows you to enlarge or reduce the size of the letters shown on the screen as you wish and to translate them directly into sounds, automatically adjusting the volume. The app should allow for total customization of how written content is displayed on each phone application, without being app-specific.
On the vehicle side, however, there is the possibility of share digital keys for cars with other smartphones, both Android and iOS, in order to allow more individuals to unlock the same car. Needless to say, the option should be used with enormous care. Currently, however, shareable digital keys are only available on Pixel 6 running Android 12 or higher and on iPhone.
Among the minor innovations we also find one new series of emojis for Emoji Kitchen and Gboardas well as the ability to make the casting of programs directly from the Google TV app for smartphones on some compatible televisions, or to use the phone as a remote control even while using other applications.
