Strong waves of false reports are characterizing the tool implemented by Apple on its devices for detecting road accidents, to the point of leading the company to work on the problem of false accidents on the iPhone 14, indirectly recognizing their existence.
After the first news in this sense, new reports arrive directly from Japan, where the Fire Department of the region of Hida Mountains, Nagano Districthas confirmed multiple such incidents.
In particular, the reports verified and proved to be false arrived between 16 December and 23 January, for 134 calls from Apple devices out of a total of 919 false calls received by the emergency service.
The reason for this triggering of Apple’s useful emergency tool would be due to a misunderstanding by the same of the ski activities in the area.Apparently, in addition to the descents on the ski slopes, another activity that would cause the activation of the emergency service is the roller coaster, due to the alternation between fast descents and sudden braking.
In the case of winter activities, however, due to the heavy clothing required and the intensity of the activity, the call cancellation system which Apple developed precisely to prevent this from happening.
In short, a nut to crack for Apple, for a service that in any case has proved to be decisive in many cases. The most recent example is that of two hikers rescued by iPhone 14 thanks to Emergency SOS in Canada.
