While it seems that Apple is struggling to produce Macs and Macbooks in the varieties and quantities originally foreseen, a new series of leaks sheds light on one of the Cupertino products whose absence is becoming more and more heavy among fans: we’re talking about the iMac Prowhich according to insider Ming-Chi Kuo could make a comeback in 2023.
According to Kuo, in fact, theiMac Pro M2 would be almost ready, and may launch alongside the Mac Pro M2 and Macbook Pro M2s over the next year. According to what we already know about the launch window of the “Pro” devices with second generation Apple Silicon chipsets, then, the work on them should be sufficiently advanced to justify a launch early 2023probably in the traditional early spring keynote.
Even Mark Gurman, Bloomberg’s expert on the apple world, seems to agree with Kuo’s prediction: in the past, in fact, the journalist explained that Apple was working on a high-end iMac, which however would have “skipped” the generation with the M2 chip. Specifically, Gurman reported that “I still believe that Apple is working on a larger screen iMac aimed at the professional market. I think it will use a variant of the M3 chip, maybe an M3 Pro and an M3 Max, so it would be as powerful as a Macbook Pro.”.
Of course, if Kuo’s rumor were true, Apple would have anticipated iMac Pro by about a yearsince the first devices with the M3 chip will not arrive before 2023 forwarded, if not even the beginning of 2024. Together with the advance of the device, Cupertino would also have changed its hardware, going from an M3 chip to an M2 Pro or Max.
Finally, rumors about the existence of an iMac Pro have been coming for months now from the director of Display Supply Chain Consultants Ross Young, according to which theiMac Pro will have a 27″ ProMotion mini-LED displayto meet the needs of those who need a larger screen than the “standard” iMac but don’t need the power offered by a Mac Studio together with an Apple Studio Display.
