
In the night between Thursday and Friday at least 18 people They’re dead due to a landslide that hit a campsite in Malaysia. Among the people killed by the landslide while they were sleeping in their tents are some children. Several missing persons have also been reported, so the number of deaths could rise. It is not yet clear what caused the landslide: there had been no particularly violent atmospheric events in the area and there had been only a light rain. Landslides are quite common in Malaysia, but usually occur after major thunderstorms.
The campsite affected by the landslide is located in the city of Batang Kali, 50 kilometers north of the capital Kuala Lumpur, and was home to a total of 94 people. According to the Malaysian National Disaster Management Agency, 61 were saved with certainty.
