Ever since Bentley found an abandoned pizza in the microwave oven (which has since disappeared), Bentley has discovered that this appliance contains good things to eat. It has become his obsession with him: he always tries to open it, risking making a mess in the kitchen. His funny attempts clinging to the oven handle, filmed by his owner, made millions of TikTok users smile: the cat who wants to steal food from the oven has become a star, with over 10 million views.
Pet lovers, especially cats, have “viralized” the 4-year-old tom from Sheridan, Oregon. His tenacity made him loved on the social network: it was the @lemon_and_lads account that revealed the kitty’s unusual passion. Brittany Schiesl recounted: “The microwave was wide open, the pizza on the floor and most of it was gone.”
Bentley’s desire to open the microwave door at all costs prompted Brittany to take out insurance on the appliance. In the video, the cat lunges with desperate strength and almost manages to throw it on the floor, with all the jars that are on it: spices, salt, supplements, toothpicks and anything else needed to prepare the dishes. The microwave lands on the edge of the shelf, a few millimeters away from landing on the floor. Risking to overwhelm the cat.
“He was an alley cat and we rescued him. He’s been on the streets for a while, so we think it’s a strong survival instinct for food,” Brittany said. She pointed out that he is the “sweetest cat”.
