The Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates he is not very convinced of the investments that many of his colleagues are making for trips to Mars.
In a BBC interview, Mr.Microsoft launched what is seen by many as a jab at Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, which as known are investing heavily in space travel. “It’s actually quite expensive to go to Mars. You can buy measles vaccines and save lives, which is all the more reason not to go to Mars” said Gates, who with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation created together with his ex-wife has invested billions of dollars in research, development and delivery of vaccines in the poorest countries of the world. Actually, Elon Musk said that everyone will be able to afford to go to Mars.
Asked about Musk, Gates said he’ll ‘be a great philanthropist one day’ and recognized that its companies such as Tesla “They’re having a positive impact even without being a form of philanthropy. But ultimately, I don’t think he’s going to want to spend that much money on himself. Musk will become a philanthropist using his ingenuity”.
Shortly before stepping down as CEO of Amazon, Jeff Bezos provided his predictions for the future of humanity, stating that tomorrow humans will live in huge colonies in space and not on other planets.
