An abandoned Pit Bull dog has found refuge and affection in a fire station. It happens in Ohio, in the United States, where Blaze has become the protagonist of a moving story, in which love and solidarity play a fundamental role. Unlike most abandoned dogs, the stray has chosen an unusual place to look for a fresh start.
The story began when the cops found Blaze wandering the streets, visibly in need of affection and attention. Rescuers tried to find out if he had an owner or if he was lost, but were unsuccessful. Despite his plight, his demeanor hinted that he had been in a loving family in the past, as he responded to orders and was polite.
His life changed when he was welcomed into the Cleveland Firehouse by Brett Dugas, a valiant firefighter and paramedic. Brett is a great animal lover, as demonstrated by his two faithful four-legged companions, Livia and Mya, two German Shepherds. “Dogs have always had a special place in my life,” Brett said, explaining how much his two little dogs make him laugh every day, filling the house with his joy.
When Blaze entered the barracks he was greeted warmly by Brett and his colleagues. He had a memorable day, exploring every corner of the fire station, having fun with the trucks and getting love from everyone. Brett’s colleagues immediately warmed to him, as he proved to be an extremely loving and sociable dog, even falling asleep in one of their arms. Although Blaze didn’t become a permanent member of the barracks, his story did have a happy ending. A city commissioner, having learned of the story, fell in love with the sweet Pit Bull and decided to adopt him. Now Blaze has a new name, Tank, and he’s finally found a loving family.
Brett, happy with the outcome of the Blaze story, wanted to publicly thank the police officers for the help they gave to the abandoned dog. His hope is that one day he will be able to contribute to making other four-legged animals in difficulty happy. This emotional story of solidarity and love demonstrates how the affection of human beings can make a difference for those in need of friendship and how important the role of communities is in supporting and protecting homeless animals. Blaze, now Tank, is an example of how a gesture of kindness can radically change the life of a dog in search of affection and care.
