An old-style design that combines complete equipment and a design and charm of yesteryear, the heart of the new BMW R 18 Roctane is its flat-twin engine, a “big boxer”.
It has an imposing appearance and is characterized by technical specifications out of the ordinary, the engine of the new German custom is finished in Avus black metallic matte with gloss black covers.
It recalls the history of the traditional air-cooled boxer engines that have provided thrills for over seven decades.
BMW R18 Roctane: 1.8-litre boxer engine
It’s about the boxer engine the most powerful 2-cylinder engine ever made in series production, it has a displacement of 1.8 litres, delivers a power of 91 horsepower at 4,750 rpm and between 2,000 and 4,000 rpm, delivers a maximum torque exceeding 150 Nm.
The tubular frame is in double cradle steel, the rear swingarm is incorporated into the drive shaft, the construction quality of the new R18 Roctane is particularly high. The telescopic fork has 49 mm diameter legs, the front suspension travel is 120 mm, 90 mm at the rear.
The braking system sees the use of a double front disc and a single rear brake, the calipers are with four pistons.
3.5 x 21” front wheels with 120/70 B21 tires and 5.5 x 18” rear wheels with 180/55 B18 tires complete the premium class technical equipment.
