It could have been a truly terrible Christmas for Rafe and Cam, the two sons of Jessica Lake, a woman from Lake Charles (Louisiana, United States). When the family returned home, all trace of the elf Rudy had been lost.
Jessica had placed it on the kitchen table with some flour on top to simulate snow.
A brief investigation allowed her to identify the person responsible for the disappearance: it is Posey, one of the house dogs, who was evidently attracted by the flour and… ate the toy.
The four-year-old dog was betrayed by traces of flour on her muzzle and the fact that she was licking her lips. “Questioned” by Jessica, the four-legged answered with a rather guilty look.
His responsibilities were confirmed a few hours later when he expelled Rudy from his body (the puppet was obviously thrown away).
It wasn’t the first time: Posey had already eaten some sandwich bread still in the package, some socks, even some toys. After this umpteenth inappropriate meal, he was taken to the vet, who said not to worry. A story about an elf at Christmas must have a happy ending and this story is no exception. When Rudy disappeared the children weren’t mad at their beloved dog, but they were still in tears, very sad.
The day after, however, everything was back to normal: with the complicity of his grandmother, who had gone to buy a replacement puppet, Rudy magically reappeared on the table at home. Just in time to celebrate Christmas.
