Almost two years with the mother’s body in the freezer.
There is still mystery about the reasons that led a 69-year-old woman, Eva Bratcherto keep his mother’s corpse in the garage refrigerator for so long, Queen Michalski, 96 years old. But Chicago detectives have a few hypotheses and many clues.
According to the investigators’ reconstruction, the elderly woman died in March 2021. The daughter had a history of fraud and possessed a forged identity card: everything would suggest that she wanted to pocket her mother’s pension by avoiding reporting her death.
It was her niece Sabrina Watson, daughter of Bratcher, who lives in Kentucky, who asked the police to check the house after losing contact with her grandmother. Twenty years before her, she then told the police about her, her mother had given her a disconcerting indication: “If your grandmother dies, she goes buried under an assumed name”. “And why on earth?” asked the niece. “Because if we use his real name, idiot, we won’t get his Social Security checks anymore – and we need them.”
The charges are “very creepy”the judge said David Kelly in setting a $20,000 bond for Bratcher.
