Around the Earth’s orbit you can find a large number of man-made space junk… and why pollute even more?! This is what many web users must have thought and, in fact, it caused a sensation release of some useless debris by two cosmonauts while they were carrying out a “spacewalk”.
Notably, Russians Sergey Prokopyev and Dmitri Petelin threw away used hardware after moving an airlock from one part of the station to another. Space experts explained that the pieces would disintegrate harmlessly into the Earth’s atmosphere immediately after being launched.
In their spacewalk that lasted more than 7 hours, the two cosmonauts supervised the moving an airlock from one side of the ISS to the other on the Russian segment of the space station. So during the work they accumulated all the hardware that could no longer be used and threw it away.
The maneuver was planned and the experts knew they would because the pieces would have disintegrated in orbit. So there is no “scandal” and the “storm” that broke out online – but which fortunately seems to have subsided after the explanations – has given up the time it found. Members of the International Space Station they would never pollute the place where they live if it was dangerous, because they have had bad experiences in the past.
