The US State Department raises alarm over covid in China. “The death toll from the virus is a cause for concern for the rest of the world, given the size of China’s GDP and the size of its economy. Having a stronger situation than Covid is not only a good thing for China but also for the rest of the world,” said Department spokesman Ned Price at a press conference.
The United States, he later observed, “continues to administer vaccines and help countries overcome the acute phase of the virus. We certainly hope that this will soon be the case also in the People’s Republic of China”.
“Every time there are deaths and infections anywhere in the world, we want a situation like this to come to an end,” Price said, recalling that the virus can mutate and pose a threat to people everywhere.
