On Wednesday, former US President Donald Trump had created a certain amount of anticipation with the promise of an “important announcement”, which should have arrived the next day. The announcement finally came on Thursday, but it wasn’t exactly “important” in the way one would expect from a former American president (who has already officially presented his candidacy for the 2024 elections):
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT! My Official Donald Trump Digital Sticker Collection is here! These limited edition stickers depict my life and career with amazing artistry. Collect all your favorite Trump digital trading cards, very similar to baseball cards, but hopefully much more exciting.
Below the ad was a photo of what appears to be one of the stickers in question, featuring Trump dressed in a red superhero suit and the number 45 on his biceps and boots (Trump was the 45th president of the United States). The stickers “cost only $99 each” and “would make a great Christmas present,” Trump said, adding to hurry up and buy them because “they’re going to run out, I think, very quickly.”
Just when you thought this grifter couldn’t humiliate himself any more than he already has, there’s this. THIS is what the big announcement was. pic.twitter.com/npsjPNYpBA

Although Wednesday’s preview had been made in an uninstitutional way, many had really thought that Trump could announce something politically relevant, such as his candidacy for speaker of the US House.
The video in which he anticipated the “important announcement” had been published on his social network “Truth” (created by Trump after being removed from Twitter for inciting his supporters to carry out the attack on Congress on January 6, 2021): in the video Trump said that “America needs a superhero”, then an image appeared of him tearing off his clothes revealing his superhero costume under his shirt. It was a video certainly not suitable for a truly “important” announcement, but it was not all that different from others he published during his electoral campaigns.

Trump is currently involved in About twenty of legal proceedings involving various crimes, including sexual assault, defamation, election interference during the 2020 presidential election, various cases of tax evasion and fraud. His business has been in crisis for some time, and his need for funds has greatly increased, also due to the legal risks he runs. Many have linked an initiative such as that of the sticker collection to its growing economic needs.
