It often happens that, when we separate, husband and wife sharpen their knives to get justice, even and above all economic justice, on the damages and abuses suffered or endured during the marriage. Less often, indeed very rare, that someone asks for compensation for alleged mistreatment or injury caused to the pet, dog or cat, it doesn’t matter, with which the couple shared their daily lives before saying goodbye.
The public prosecutor of the Belluno court, Simone Marcon, has asked the judges to sentence a family man to 2 years and 3 months in prison for allegedly hitting his partner between 2016 and 2021, before and after the had become a mother herself. So far the problems, so to speak, that the man would have caused his ex. But there is, in addition, a “game” entirely dedicated to the poor cat who lived with them until the situation is transcended. The feline would have been taken by the neck, stuffed into a pillowcase and carried out of the house.
From the judicial dispute it would also have emerged that the animal would have risked its life due to the man’s excessive aggressiveness but, for the moment, this is not part of the ongoing process. The woman’s civil lawyer asked for damages of 30,000 euros, deeming all the allegations proven. The defender of man, god against, fought for the acquittal, motivating the non-existence of the factor, and only subordinately the minimum penalty referred to the injuries, with the availability to work of public utility.
Responses and sentence were postponed to 7 June.
