The case brings to mind what happened to Monza 8 days ago: a 14 year old boy pushed against a train for a sweatshirt.
The contours of the fact are not yet defined but in Germany one child died and another was seriously injured after being run over by a train on a railway line in the city of Recklinghausen. According to the Bild newspaper, the very young were dragged several hundred meters by a freight train. Police and firefighters scoured the tracks with flashlights and drones looking for any other victims.
Some witnesses said that between binaries of the old railway station there is a former abandoned building, where the boys often gather. You can get there both through the bushes and through the railway section. But whether the accident happened there or somewhere else remains to be clarified for the time being. The emergency call came in just after 6pm last night. A spokesman for the police he said: “We are not aware of a third child being involved.” Police are still at work looking for evidence and details of the accident.
“It’s awful. It’s just awful what happened here and one can only hope that the parents have the strength to overcome this great misfortune,” he told reporters Herbert Reul, Interior Minister of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. “Because, how come, these are all questions that no one can answer yet and that would solve nothing,” added Reul.
