A parcel bomb disguised as a gift package, probably complete with ribbons and a bow, only by chance did not turn the moment of its opening into a tragedy. It happened in Warsaw, Poland, in the headquarters of the “policja”, the Polish police.
The gift had been received by a Polish police commander during a recent visit to Ukraine. The news was officially released in a statement by the Polish Interior Ministry, adding that the explosion occurred on Wednesday morning at 7.05 am and caused minor injuries to the commander and a civilian employee. It was not specified how the gift was packaged, nor what it looked like. At the moment, the personal details of those who physically delivered the bomb in the form of a gift are also unknown.
The commander who received the explosive gift had met with leaders of the Ukrainian police and emergency services on Sunday and Monday. He is now in hospital being observed. Following the explosion, “the Polish side asked the Ukrainian side to provide explanations of the case”, the ministry said.
