They are the ones who “create the future of art and fashion”, and for this they are awarded by Forbes magazine which places them in the annual list of influential young people. Design, fashion, beauty, art, style: these are the disciplines in which i 30 under 30 in Art and Style selected for 2023, and although some of their names are currently known only to insiders, they are people to keep an eye on because they are shaping the aesthetics of the future. The selection has a geographical border, North America, but their influence is already global.
Leading the most influential under-30 team is there Hailey Bieber, which conquers the cover of the magazine. The model and influencer, wife of Justin Bieber, despite being only 26 years old can already boast a successful entrepreneurial career. She testimonial of several fashion brands, from Jimmy Choo to Saint Laurent, over the years she has become an aspirational model in the beauty world thanks to her skin which is said to resemble a “glazed doughnut”. This year she has decided to make his peculiarities bear fruit, launching a line of skincare, Rhode (which is one of her surnames), and focusing on products that promise to make the skin as luminous as hers. Among the other 29 under 30 there are many figures who have taken over the reins of their careers and have embarked on artistic and entrepreneurial adventures managing to build small empires in their sector. There is for example Emily Obergwho founded an athleiusure fashion brand, Sporty&Rich, which is now worth $50 million. There is Olivia Chengthat with his Dauphinettethe upcycled vintage outerwear brand, earned $1 million in 2022 alone. And again, there’s Michelle Nguyen, known as Coke Michellenail artist who is gaining global fame thanks to his creations, which show off Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi B, Rosalía and Christina Aguilera.
Among the success stories selected by the Forbes jury, we find that of Alan King and Bryan Leonfounders of Akings, brand of denim trousers that celebrities compete for. And that of Wisdom Kayewho was ‘born’ on social media by posting videos dedicated to style and today boasts a contract with the IMG agency as well as collaborations with Gucci, Dior and Coach. Flo Ngala instead she is a young photographer who has broken a new glass ceiling: she was the first black woman to be hired by Vogue to immortalize the guests of the Met Gala. There is no shortage of stories of activism, such as that of Quannah chasing horsea model who walks for Gucci and Chanel and in the meantime continues her battle for the climate and for the protection of indigenous lands: between one red carpet and another, she was invited to the American Congress for a speech during which she railed against oil companies drilling in the Arctic.
