Animal print has always fascinated fashion. From the fifties to today it has never ceased to be a must have, or since when Christian Dior, on February 12, 1947, conquered the world with his ‘New Look’ and was the first to show animalier on the catwalk. After the restrictions imposed on the style by the Second World War, this type of fantasy definitively conquered the ladies of good society, who began to show it off calmly during the day and in the evening. In the 90s, however, it was the designer Azzedine Alaïa who brought it to the pinnacle of fame. Over time, many actresses, singers and muses have been infected by animalier mania: Ava Gardner, Bettie Page, Marilyn Monroe, Jackie Kennedy, Audrey Hepburn, Sophia Lauren, just to name a few.
However, choosing and combining animal print is not easy. You have to be careful not to ‘exceed’, especially when combining it with other garments or accessories: at 20 the main risk is to fall into the ‘lady style’; to avoid it, it’s good to experiment with a leopard print, for example on drawstring trousers to wear with sneakers, or on a skirt or a soft dress with a biker jacket, a pull over or the classic denim jacket over it. At 30, animalier goes well with a midi skirt or a coat. At 40, with a chemisier dress or pencil skirt, rather than office trousers to be worn however with neutral outerwear and accessories. At 50 and over, animalier should be worn with irony: from the top to the accessories, you can also be daring with colour.
