We look once again to the future of Intel after seeing the launch plans for CPUs and GPUs until 2024: some recent rumors speak of a possible price cut on 12th generation Intel CPUs at resellers around the world. Will it really be like this?
The portal spoke about it in more detail DigiTimes, as taken up by the renowned tipster harukaze5719 on Twitter who, for convenience, has prepared the table you find at the bottom of the news. As you can see there are three columns with “initial price”, “new price” and “rumored price”, but why? Quite simply, in early January, Intel raised its retail price of the Alder Lake range; therefore, the second column is dedicated to the figures that should now be offered in stores.
It’s important to note, though, that major retail outlets have never enforced this MSRP increase. The result is that the 20% reduction in noise online should be applied to -increase price, thus being 20% lower than the initial cost.
However, this is good news for those who want to complete the upgrade of their build: the top-of-the-line i9-12900 models drop by around $70-60 to a base around $408, while the lower-mid-range i5s see a mere $35-$20 drop from their original MSRP. It will be interesting to see if Intel does exactly as tipsters anticipate or if there will be other pleasant news for consumers.
Meanwhile, the launch of the new Intel ARC A550 GPU is also rumored.
