In the past few hours, Apple has confirmed the launch window of iOS 16.5, iPadOS 16.5 and macOS 13.4: apparently, in fact, the three operating systems they will arrive between 15 and 21 May on all compatible iPhones, iPads, Macs and Macbooks. To further confirm this window, the Release Candidates of the three OSes have just been published.
The iOS 16.5 Release Candidate comes just one week after the launch of the fourth beta of iOS 16.5 and iPadOS 16.5, first for developers and then for all Beta users. This means that the frequency of updates published by Apple is rapidly increasing, signaling the end of the company’s work on the latest versions of its operating systems for iPhone, iPad and Macbook.
On the other hand, iOS 16.5 and iPadOS 16.5 don’t have big news software: it could have been expected, especially now that iOS 17 is about to arrive, as it will be announced during the WWDC on June 5th. We can therefore expect that, barring last-minute surprises, the Bitten Apple decides not to include new features in iOS 16.5 and iPadOS 16.5 to “keep them aside” in view of iOS 17.
Among the minor novelties of iOS 16.5 we have one Sports tab of Apple News, which should allow users to access all the sports content they prefer in just a few taps. It will also be possible to decide to follow your favorite teams to receive updates live dedicated to your favorite team. A new option for Siri will also be launched, which will allow you to start and stop screen recording with a voice command.
Furthermore, in parallel, the changelog of the Release Candidate version explains that iOS 16.5 fixes several bugs, including one to the Podcasts app and one to your smartphone screen time settings. Similarly, macOS 13.4 will also introduce several bug fixesincluding one to a known issue that made external keyboards unable to connect via Bluetooth, and will improve operating system speed and stability.
