After discovering that Apple will modify the iPhone 15 Pro Max camera to provide the smartphone with more space for the periscope lens, another interesting improvement is revealed today that will be found under the body of all the new iPhones. The latter, in particular, will concern the iPhone 15 wireless charging.
According to reports Charger LabIndeed, iPhone 15 will support both Qi2 and MagSafe wireless charging. According to the Wireless Power Consortium, the first Qi2-certified wireless chargers will be released around winter 2023, so iPhone 15 could be the first (or among the first) smartphones to support the new technology.
As well as MagSafe devices, Qi2 chargers too they will have a maximum charging speed at 15W: this is also a clear step forward compared to the current state of the iPhones, because the fast charging of the iPhone 14 reaches a maximum of 7.5W with non-MagSafe chargers and 15W with MagSafe ones. Obviously, in this round the fact that it is based on Apple’s MagSafe standard argues in favor of Qi2 technology.
The news will certainly please the most wallet-conscious users, because it means that i iPhone 15 wireless chargers will cost less than those for iPhone 14, with the same charging speed: Qi2 devices, in fact, do not have to use Apple’s expensive MagSafe module and, at the same time, they do not have charging limited to 7.5 W instead of 15 W.
In addition, Qi2 devices do not have to receive “Made for iPhone” certification, which will allow users to buy alternative chargers to the official ones of Cupertino, most likely at a much lower price than the latter.
