The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, Grand Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has pardoned “tens of thousands” of prisoners in Iranian prisons. This was reported by the Iranian state media, underlining that among the people pardoned there are many protesters arrested in the anti-government protests that erupted after the death, in September, of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, who died after being arrested by the so-called moral police of Tehran on charges of not wear the Islamic headscarf correctly.
”Detainees who have not been accused of spying for foreign agencies, of having direct contact with foreign agents, of committing murder willfully, of destroying state property or of being sued by a private individual, will be pardoned” Iranian media report.
