It’s not just a period of possible layoffs at Amazon. In fact, there is also the withdrawal of a well-known company executive, that is Jeff Blackburn, Head of Prime Video, Twitch and Gaming Operations.
In this regard, as reported by The Verge, Blackburn is about to retire and Amazon’s TV, movies, gaming and audiobooks areas will therefore have new leadership. In this context, to take the reins of the projects will be Mike Hopkins and Steve Boom. Simply put, it’s a renewal period within Amazon.
Boom, which already does music and podcasts, will add Twitch, Audible and Amazon’s gaming division under its wing, while Hopkins will take over Amazon Prime Video, Amazon Studios and MGM. Both of them will report directly to CEO Andy Jassy (remember that Jeff Bezos is no longer CEO for some time).
Blackburn joined Amazon way back in 1997, thus referring to an executive who has served the company for many years. His work at Amazon will continue until January 2023, in order to guarantee what is described “a smooth transition“. In short, time passes and at a certain point the time comes to leave , even for the great executives of Amazon. In any case, the matter is not going unnoticed also due to the number of divisions involved: there will be some change of broken? We’ll see.
