The attack against the police took place in the Baleli area, where a bomber targeted an armed forces truck, also damaging two civilian cars. “It was a suicide attack,” confirmed Ghulam Azfar Mahesar, deputy inspector general of the Quetta police, adding that among the victims were a policeman and a child. “More than twenty policemen are injured,” he added. The spokesman of the Taliban terrorist group Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Muhammad Khorasani, claimed responsibility for the attack and said details about the bomber would be disclosed in the next few hours. The TTP on Monday ended the unilateral ceasefire it announced in June 2022, saying the government showed no seriousness during peace talks and continued to target Taliban hideouts in the country.
