The Ukrainian authorities have reported having discovered a torture room which the Russians used to detain and torture i children during the occupation of Kherson. The reports Kyiv Independentquoting the human rights commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada (the Ukrainian Parliament), Dmytro Lubinets.
According to local testimony, other victims of torture in the facility knew that the Ukrainian children were being held by Russian security services in the room, dubbed “the children’s cell”. The little ones were given little water and almost no food, added Lubinets.
The children, again according to witnesses, were the object of psychological abuse: the jailers told them that their parents had abandoned them and that they would never go home. Faced with certain discoveries, the horror of Bucha and other localities immediately comes to mind, which in recent months have been liberated by the army of Kiev after being subjected to the Russian yoke. Indeed, Commissioner Lubinets commented: “I thought the bottom couldn’t be broken after Bucha, Irpin … but we really hit rock bottom in Kherson,” he added.
