The Ministry of the Interior is looking for Maxim Evstropov, leading painter of the artistic association “Party of the Dead”, accused of offending the faithful and contempt of religion.
The police carried out searches of the homes of members of the association and his group was blocked in the Russian social network VK.
“Party of the Dead” has staged numerous protests against the war in Ukraine and, in particular, against the patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Kirill for his support for the conflict. Its members usually dress up as an image of death and make macabre representations in cemeteries, especially those where fallen soldiers in Ukraine are buried. Last Easter they displayed the slogan: “Christ is risen, but the conscript – no!”.
Another slogan is the reversal of the slogan of the Russian military and the Wagner group “We do not abandon ours!”. In the version of the “Party of the dead” it was transformed into “We do not abandon our (but only their corpses)!”.
