A dog, her eight puppies and an abandoned house: this is what volunteers from a US shelter in Missouri found on a windy day thanks to reports.
Alerted by some citizens who had heard yelping coming from the basement of a disused building, Donna Lochmann and another staff member of the Stray Rescue of St. Louis went to the scene and welcomed them was a scenario of absolute degradation: in the In the basement of what had once been a house, among rubble, rubbish and forgotten objects, there were three puppies, no older than six weeks. They were frightened, but they tried to bark, as if to get attention. Their mother did the same, unlike her little ones without letting them get close.

The operators managed to bring the three puppies to safety and had to give up the largest four-legged friend, however setting traps with the idea of returning to get him later. So it was: it took several attempts, until the mission was successful. And, on the upper floor of the ruined house, the women found a surprise: five other puppies, which with the three already rescued brought the number of the litter up to eight. A hole in the floor also explained why the first animals had been found in the cellar, probably after falling. The whole family was taken to the Stray Rescue of St. Louis to be fixed up.

Thus, eight puppies and their mother were rescued from the street. The dog who had given birth to the puppies was named Windy Day, “windy day”, like the one in which it was found. The puppies were immediately entrusted to families who will take care of them waiting to find a new home for each of them, while the mother is still waiting for someone to choose her as a life partner. Until then, the shelter staff will provide her with the necessary care and affection to give her a new life.
