A Reddit user first noticed earlier this week that YouTube is testing a system for block video playback for users using adblockers on your platform.
As can be read in the post posted on Redditin fact, when he tried to connect to YouTube with Adblock activated, a popup appeared informed him that plugins of this type are not allowed on YouTube. In parallel, the streaming of movies has also been blocked unless the user inserts the Google platform among the exceptions.
The popup read that “ads allow YouTube to remain free for billions of users worldwide”.
YouTube itself has confirmed that a test with a small group of users is underway, but it’s not clear whether Google intends to expand it to everyone in the long run or not. However, it is undeniable that advertisements are YouTube’s main source of income, despite complaints from users. Obviously we will update you on the matter as soon as further details or confirmations emerge.
Recently, however, one of the most annoying advertisements has disappeared from YouTube: the overlay ads against which many subscribers had railed against.
