A few days have passed since the publication of the first news relating to the Discord bug that slowed down NVIDIA GPUs, and today the video card manufacturer’s customer care provided a very important update via your official Twitter account.
NVIDIA, in this case, explains that he has corrected the bug through a patch that will be downloaded automatically as soon as you log into Windows. Users will therefore not have to do anything as the system will proceed with the download automatically: “GeForce users can now download an app profile update for Discord. This fixes a recently reported issue causing clock speeds to drop on some GPUs with Discord open in the background. The update will automatically download to your PC the next time you log into Windows” reads the tweet.
According to what emerged, those interested were mainly i PCs with cards like the RTX 3080 and 3060 Ti. The bug would have prevented the GPUs from reaching their maximum clock speeds, with reductions of around 200 MHz. This resulted in major dips during gaming sessions for many users, since Discord is a very popular app that has been created to talk to friends while playing.
