While the sales of NVIDIA’s RTX 4090 show no signs of decreasing, grinding record after record, we discover today that the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti may cost more than expectedeven surpassing the $1,000 mark in some markets.
We already know that, in all likelihood, the RTX 4070 Ti will be launched at CES 2023 and that it will be a rebranding of the ex-GeForce RTX 4080 12GB under a different name. According to the Chinese portal hsw extension, the cost of the video card in China will be 7,199 Yuan, or about 1,000 Dollars. This is obviously a very high price for a mid-range component, which does not at all bode well for its cost on the American and European markets.
Incredibly, the price leaked by HSW is even higher than the RTX 4080 12GB MSRP: before the cancellation of the card by NVIDIA due to the harsh criticism of the players, in fact, it had been proposed by Team Verde at an introductory price of “only” 899 Dollars. If indeed the RTX 4070 Ti were to cost $ 1,000, we would see a $ 100 increase in the price of the component compared to the MSRP of a couple of months ago, despite the “downgrade” from high-end to mid-range, at least in nominal terms.
It’s still possible that the Chinese price of the card is much higher than the American and European ones due to the GPU import costs in the Far Eastern country, or that the HSW leak is simply false. If the indiscretion were confirmed, however, it would be a rather strong alarm bell also for Western gamers: the Chinese market usually has lower prices for video cards compared to the American one and, above all, compared to the European one.
