Do you remember when, a few weeks ago, we told you about NVIDIA’s RTX 4080 sold below the MSRP in Europe? At the time, many thought the price cut was due to gods poor commercial performance of the graphics cardbut apparently things would be very different.
On the contrary, in fact, Neweggthe largest American portal specializing in PC components, graphics cards and CPUs, has revealed that the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 is the best-selling card of the moment, surpassing both the blockbuster RTX 4090, currently slipped to fourth place among the best-selling cards in America, and the evergreen for the mid-range, such as the RTX 3060 and RTX 3060 Ti.
In particular, the best-selling RTX 4080 model would be the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4080 Gaming OCwhich is marketed in the United States at a starting price of $1,269.99, one of the lowest for an RTX 4080. At the same time, the RTX 4090, launched a month before its slightly lower-end “sister” and at a decidedly higher price (the American MSRP is 1,599.99 Dollars), it continues to enjoy some success among gamers.
After the NVIDIA-branded quartet, however, AMD’s low-budget proposals arrive, such as the Radeon RX 6700 XT (starting price: $479) and Radeon RX 660, with an MSRP of just $329. In short, it seems that Newegg’s customers are investing mostly in high-end video cards: it remains to be seen how the trend of sales after the release of the NVIDIA RTX 4070 Ti, which could prove to be a great choice for the upper mid-range.
On Amazon, meanwhile, they continue to excel low-end and last generation GPUswith the RTX 3060 and RTX 3060 Ti, along with their custom builds, all occupying the top spot of the ranking: the RTX 4090, in fact, is only fifteenth in Jeff Bezos’ ecommerce ranking, while the RTX 4080 comes in twenty-eighth place.
