According to the images shown by colleagues of GizChinathe one shown by OPPO is one smartphone with a unibody of glassthat is composed of a single piece of glass that makes up the whole chassis, from the display cover to the back panel, including the sides. The Chinese company calls this technology “integrated glass”.
It is difficult to say what the advantages of a similar smartphone could be, also because in the face of such a sophisticated design, the phone should bring with it a big problem: since it is made with a glass body made from a single element, the smartphone cannot be opened for repairs. The only openings in the frame in glass, in fact, are those corresponding to the room bump and the USB-C charging connector.
Obviously, then, there is also the question of fragility of a glass devicewhich could be subject to much greater damage than one who has a frame metal or other materials. The matter gets worse if we consider that, to show the most impactful part of the smartphone, i.e. the reflective rear panel, the user should be forced to do not use any protective cover for the device.
