On social media it is not uncommon to come across videos of people eating large quantities of food. Some have YouTube channels and TikTok profiles with thousands or millions of followers, share “binge” videos and challenge themselves to eat as much food as possible, the weirdest, spiciest, most seasoned or even expired foods. Recently one of them, Taylor LeJeune (1.8 million followers), died due to an “alleged cardiac arrest”, as reported by his brother. And it is not an isolated case.
