The English bookmakers already gave it as a winner. Peggy, a four-year-old female, probably a cross between a pug and a Chinese crested dog, has won the coveted title of “ugliest dog in the United Kingdom”. Beyond the physical aspect, the little she is equipped with a weapon capable of breaking through anyone’s heart: an innate sympathy, the kind that bewitch at first approach. “She is capable of winning over anyone who approaches her, even if only out of curiosity, given her original physical features,” says Holly Middleton, 36, originally from Leven, East Yorkshire. The woman adopted Peggy when the dog was just six months old. “It is true that nobody stops on the street to compliment her – she confesses – but she is pampered and loved by everyone in the family”.
His nickname is Pugese, which then derives from the play on words between the English names of the two breeds from which he seems to descend (no veterinarian and no breeder has been able to confirm this with certainty). “We were looking for a dog, we wanted something small, something that would fit into our lives quite easily, but we weren’t necessarily looking for a particular four-legged friend,” Hollly explained to the British media who were interested in her Peggy and running. for the unique title “So, sensing that it would probably be difficult for that puppy to win the hearts of other families, we decided to open the doors of our home to her”.
An act of infinite love. “I love all that is unusual, original – concludes the woman – when I saw her on the adoption website I immediately understood that I wanted to take care of her. Finding her a name was not easy. We struggled a lot, nothing seemed suitable . Then her grandmother took care of it. She told us that Peggy reminded her a bit of her mother, at this point we opted for Peggy”. The contest is organized by the photographic printing company Parrot Print and the winner receives, among other things, a grooming session and a dedicated and exclusive photo shoot. Matt Dahan, founder of Parrot Print, said: “We had hundreds of entries and these seven were the ones that really hurt our eyes when we looked at them.” The winner is expected to be announced next month.
