We recently discovered, thanks to a Swiss store, which video cards break more easily, but who won the first “battle” of 2023 in terms of preferences between NVIDIA and AMD?
It was the answer to this question Steam survey for January 2023which crowned the absolute winner with exclusive reference to the new generation the RTX 4090.
In order, we find:
- RTX 4090 – 0.24%
- RTX 4080 – 0.14%
- RTX 4070 Ti – 0.05%
- RX 7900 XTX and XT – not yet received
It should be specified that these numbers do not depict the entire market but only the gaming segment and, specifically, gamers using Steam. At this point, at least two possible reflections can be made. The first is that the distribution actually follows the public’s appreciation, giving credit to NVIDIA for having churned out the most powerful graphics solution currently available for the consumer, but this would not explain why the RTX 4080, with a decidedly contested pricing, is more popular than the RTX 4070 Ti. In this sense, it is possible that even the time since the launch has a fundamental weight in the dissemination of these cards, especially in this very early phase.
As for the red team, AMD itself admitted that it shipped fewer units between the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023, explaining that this trend should reverse definitively in the second half of the year.
