The Geekbench scores of the RX 7900 XTX were jaw-dropping, especially with Vulkan performance outperforming NVIDIA’s RTX 4080. With the official launch almost upon us, the first results of the new ones have also appeared on the net Radeon on 3DMark.
To be exact, the scores that appeared online are related to synthetic benchmarks of Time Spy and of Fire Strike. Time Spy ran in both modes Performance (1440p) that Extreme (2160p), while Fire Strike, likewise, in Extreme (1440p) and Ultra (2160p).
On the testbed would be both of the red team’s new generation flagship boards, viz the Radeon RX 7900 XTX and the Radeon RX 7900 XT. The scores obtained by both cards were a clear confirmation of what was already leaked a few days ago on Geekbench, at least in terms of hierarchies.
We find ourselves in a situation of substantial parity between the two top of the range from AMD and the RTX 4080 in 4K on Time Spy, while at a lower resolution the representative of Nvidia stretch by a few percentage points. The scores obtained are (for reference, we report the archival values of the RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 provided by the source):
Time Spy Extreme (2160p)
- RTX 4090 – 19,398 (100%)
- RTX 4080 – 14,005 (72%)
- RX 7900 XTX – 13,729 (71%)
- RX 7900 XT – 13,687 (70%)
Time Spy Performance (1440p)
- RTX 4090 – 35,704 (100%)
- RTX 4080 – 28,050 (79%)
- RX 7900 XTX – 25,473 (71%)
- RX 7900 XT – 23,897 (67%)
Fire Strike Ultra (2160p)
- RTX 4090 – 24,927 (100%)
- RX 7900 XTX – 18,853 (76%)
- RTX 4080 – 17,294 (69%)
- RX 7900 XT – 16,915 (68%)
Fire Strike (1440p)
- RTX 4090 – 45,704 (100%)
- RX 7900 XTX – 37,702 (82%)
- RTX 4080 – 33,932 (74%)
- RX 7900 XT – 33,497 (73%)
Relying on these numbers, albeit with all the caution of the case, it is clear that the apex of the AMD pyramid has been specifically designed to compete more or less directly with the second best option on the green team without ever really worrying about the RTX 4090which represents a completely new concept for the segment Enthusiast.
If the scores of the XTX are interesting, those of the younger sister are even more striking, which manages to score anyway always competitive against the competition even with lower consumption, smaller dimensions and an even lower price.
To be sure of the goodness of the new AMD proposals, we will have to wait only for December 12, but remember that for Christmas stocks of the Radeon 7000 could be limited.
