Israeli aircraft have bombed the Gaza Strip tonight. The attack would appear to be in retaliation for a rocket launch launched from Gaza towards the area of Sderot, in southern Israel, where alarm sirens had sounded shortly before. There military radio claims that the Palestinian rocket was intercepted by the Iron Dome system and so far there are no reports of casualties. Witnesses quoted by the French agency AFP say that after the Israeli raids other rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip towards Israeli territory.
The tensions between Israelis and Palestinians have intensified after the Israeli raid a Jenin January 27, followed by Palestinian attacks in East Jerusalem: the victims are dozens.
