Ramil Shamsutdinov is a former Russian conscript, a victim of hazing: in 2019 he shot and killed 8 fellow soldiers and is now serving a 24-year prison sentence.
After the conviction he applied for enlistment in the Wagner company to fight in the Donbass. The application was initially accepted, but was later suspended.
During the first visit to the harsh regime penal colony, the convict’s request was accepted but, during the second visit, the recruiter, already aware of Shamsutdinov’s dossier, told him that “for now there was no need for him ” at the forefront. However, it should be noted that some detainees, allegedly sentenced to long terms of imprisonment for serious crimes, were conscripted and sent to Donbass.
