A 58-year-old man was arrested for assault after he shot a 14-year-old girl playing hide and seek with friends on his property. It happened on Sunday afternoon in the town of Starks, 400 km west of New Orleans, Louisiana. American newspapers report it.
According to an initial reconstruction by the police, the young woman and her friends were playing hide and seek behind David Doyle’s house. The man noticed some movement, returned to the house and immediately came out with a firearm while the boys ran away in the meantime and opened fire, hitting the 14-year-old in the back of the head. The young woman was immediately transferred to the hospital, but her life is not in danger.
Doyle was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and battery. He told cops he opened fire after seeing “shadows outside his house.” It is the latest in a series of shootings in the United States triggered by seemingly trivial circumstances.
