By now all the main mobile market analysts have noticed the plunge in smartphone sales in 2022. However, the latest reports published online analyze the Asian context in detail and, surprisingly, the results are really bad: the smartphone market in China is in a rather negative situation.
As reported by Canalys with reference to the last quarter of 2022 and the entire calendar year, the segment recorded a drop in overall shipments of 14%, even going as low as 300 million units sold. Think it’s the first time this has happened since 2013!
The reason? According to analyst Lucas Zhong, “Strong pandemic control policy has led to historically high household savings as consumer spending has become prudent. The consumer confidence index between October and November was at its lowest level since April. Finally, Xiaomi ranks fifth with a share of 13% and a drop in shipments of 24%.
Now it will be important to see if the pandemic will no longer be a big problem for the Dragon; in other words, you will have to wait for it stabilization of the national supply chain.
