We have already anticipated negative data for the smartphone market according to IDC quarterly estimates, but now a new report signed by Counterpoint Research is also arriving to give a slightly different point of view: the setback in Q3 2022but the growth of Apple and Xiaomi is noted.
As reported by the expert analysts of Counterpoint Market Research, the global smartphone market scene has seen a shipments down 12% and revenue down 3%thanks to the 10% increase in the average selling price which entices fewer users to purchase but makes them spend more.
At the bottom of the news you will therefore find the graph that divides the market of mobile devices on the basis of the shares of the individual brands: Apple remains the number one brand in the world thanks to shipments covering 42% of total sales in the third quarter of 2022, up from the 37.1% reported in Q3 of 2021. Xiaomi instead rises from 7.7% to 8.3% in the same period of time, but still ahead of it is Samsung with its 18.3%, down 0.2%. We then find the OPPO / OnePlus duo with a total of 6%, vivo with 5% and other brands that share the remaining 20.4%.
What matters most is the overtaking of Xiaomi against the BBK groupgiven that vivo and OPPO / OnePlus are now behind the Chinese rival, now on the third step of the podium thanks especially to its medium-low range smartphones.
It will still be necessary wait for fourth quarter data of the current year to find out the final numbers: TrendForce’s predictions of Apple overtaking Samsung at the end of 2022, however, have already come true.
