A Chinese air balloon bristling with electronic eyes and ears, flying over the United States: a spy story that recalls the times of the cold war.
The video was shot at Billings, Montana, from a private named Chase Doak: while filming, Doak comments on the images, saying he doesn’t know what the object he’s filming is – but he’s sure it’s not the moon, visible in the sky at a short distance. The Reuters agency has released these images with the caveat that it cannot confirm that the imaged object is really the Chinese spy balloon mentioned by the Pentagon.
The US Department of Defense said the balloon had been observed for a couple of days after it entered US airspace. It was flying at high altitudes and was flying over Montana where the United States has some of its nuclear bases. As a precaution, flights from Logan Airport in Billings were suspended on Wednesday.
