He is used to “consoling” mourners, now that he has fallen ill many have wanted to be close to him. This is the story of the cat Giuliano and it comes from Castiglion Fiorentino (Arezzo): the feline, about seven years old, arrived three years ago at the Misericordia headquarters in Castiglion Fiorentino: ill, he had hidden in a crawl space.
Once treated by the vet, Giuliano was adopted by Gabriele, a volunteer of Mercy and by other volunteers and since that day, at every wake, he has never failed to get close to the people he saw suffering by letting himself be petted. Over the years, the tabby kitten has become the best-known cat in the town of Valdichiana. A few weeks ago Gabriele, going to see Giuliano, realized that he wasn’t well, at which point he took action by contacting Vanessa, a young shop owner and expert in rescuing wild animals who, with her boyfriend Marco, took the cat in shop and had it visited.
From there it turned out that Giuliano was suffering from three stones of more than one centimeter. Either he had surgery or he died. At that point Gabriele launched an appeal on Facebook to raise the almost 400 euros needed for the delicate operation. People immediately took action for the ‘comforter’ kitten and the response was not long in coming. In a few hours, the figure was reached thanks to the offers. Last Thursday Giuliano underwent surgery in Arezzo, he is fine and has returned to Vanessa and Marco’s shop who adopted him.
