The Arsene Lupine of potato chips was unmasked by the exercise camera. “At first I was surprised… Then I started laughing,” the owner told The Dodo after viewing the images that capture the little dog who has learned the art of sneaking in by taking advantage of the absence of people.
Marisa Guimarães was busy cleaning the back of her shop when she heard a familiar sound: that of the packaging of a packet of sweets. At first it looked like a customer had walked in and picked up an item to purchase. But when Guimarães came out to greet the customer, no one was there. But she was sure she heard the sound of a bag of chips or snacks. She decided to examine the security camera footage of the store to clear up any doubts. And she discovered that someone had actually touched the candy display: a four-legged brat.
A dog with the habit of stealing had decided to enter his shop and help himself. He had moved carefully, making sure the place was clear before selecting the object of desire that he wanted to take possession of. The puppy had then vanished before being seen. Perhaps he had thought he had carried out the perfect crime: he didn’t know that there were images that framed him.
“Its owners are my neighbors and they are customers of my shop. I showed them the video and they really enjoyed it. They offered to pay for the damages!” said Guimarães, who is not angry with the dog with the habit of stealing : “Of course it’s welcome. Just pay next time!”, she said, with a smile.
