Veterinarian Mércia Amaro gave dog Bob the most beautiful gift of all: she allowed him to see the world again and, with it, also the face of his best human friend. For months the four-legged had almost completely lost his sight, but thanks to an operation on his eyes, now the dark is just a memory for him.
It all started as a mild case of bilateral cataracts, then worsened to the point where Bob was nearly blind. The dog hadn’t taken the situation well, he had become despondent and moved little for fear of bumping into furniture and walls. Not even the return home of his owner could cheer him, as once he would have run to meet him to fill him with celebrations.
A possibility for Bob came with the veterinarian Amaro, who specializes in ophthalmology in the Brazilian city of Campo Grande. The health conditions of the four-legged seemed irreversible, but a serious cataract surgery has rekindled hopes (and the light in the dog’s eyes). “Immediately after the operation, Bob began to give encouraging signs – the doctor who treated the animal told The Dodo -. He kept looking at us as if he wanted to say: “I can see!” ».
After a day of hospitalization, the dog was finally able to meet and see the owner with his own eyes. The moment was filmed and in the video Bob is completely transformed compared to the sad dog he had become with the almost total loss of sight: wagging his tail, he runs towards his human friend and enjoys his cuddles, looking at him in adoration regardless of the Elizabethan collar that it prevents some movements.
Now Bob is back home and recovering from the surgery, finally seeing his home and his family again.
