Dax is a very tender and elderly 19-year-old Weimaraner who has bet on his new lease on life after being abandoned in a country refuge. Despite his advanced age, the dog is living testimony to the power of resilience and courage. When he was left at the Walton County Animal Shelter, the staff of the rescue center had to surrender to the impossibility of being able to follow him, given the conditions of impairment in his hind legs, thus diverting him to a center more suitable for his state of health but, above all, able to better evaluate and manage his possible adoption.

For this reason, the management of Big Dog Ranch Rescue was contacted. The organization immediately intervened, assuring that it would host Dax. Here they worked hard to find a home, a suitable place that could give the tranquility and love that old Dax badly needed.

Eventually, the dog was transferred to Love4Paws in Sarasota, a US city of 53,000 inhabitants in Florida, welcomed in this case by one of the foster families associated with the organization. Dax’s physical condition has created many concerns, especially with regard to his hind legs. Luckily, Ruck9, an organization dedicated to assisting dogs with severe mobility problems, came to the animal’s rescue, providing him with a set of emergency wheels. Thus equipped with his special and exclusive wheelchair, the four-legged can now make up for lost time, reciting a new chapter of his life so tormented and painful.

He will soon undergo a veterinary visit who will have to evaluate his current health conditions in order to formulate a therapeutic plan for at least a partial recovery of movement. The goal is to provide Dax with the love, comfort and quality of life he deserves for the rest of his days.
