A few days after the arrival of the new CIEID app for the Electronic Identity Card, the experimentation phase for use the identity document of our country such as SPID on public administration and private websites.
As shown in the video tutorial released on the CIE YouTube channel, through the “Enter with CIE” function it is possible to set a password to log in without needing to have the physical card at hand.
At this point, users will only have to scan the QR code via the CieID application for smartphones or enter their email and password and the relative OTP code received via SMS to log in.
This extension is possible following theextension of security levels 1 and 2 to the CieID appwhich ensure better digital identity management.
The activation of these new systems can be done directly through the website of the Electronic Identity Cardon the page relating toactivation of CIE Credentials Level 1 and 2.
In the long run, the Government intends to retire the SPID to bring it into the EU Digital Wallet which, according to Undersecretary Butti, will allow all personal documents to be stored on smartphones, through a single app. Butti himself has also recently highlighted how the current SPID system is not sustainable.
